How to judge plumbing work

Most plumbing emergencies are the visible end of a slow problem: a supply line that has been weeping behind drywall, a water heater whose anode rod gave up years ago, or a drain line that has been narrowing with scale. The value of a good plumber is largely in catching the slow version before it becomes the loud one.

Water pressure, pipe material and water chemistry interact more than most homeowners expect. Hard water shortens fixture life; pressure above roughly 80 psi stresses every joint in a house. Asking what a plumber measures — not just what they replace — is a fair way to judge one.

Common service intervals for household plumbing (general maintenance guidance, not a service promise)
ComponentTypical service intervalWhy it matters
Water heater flushAnnuallySediment reduces efficiency and shortens tank life
Anode rod check2–4 yearsA spent rod moves corrosion to the tank itself
Supply hoses (washer)Replace every 5 yearsBurst hoses are a leading cause of water damage
Main shutoff exerciseAnnuallyA seized valve turns a small leak into a large one
Drain line inspectionAs symptoms appearSlow drains often precede a full blockage

What customers say

After receiving a very high quote for trenching and repairing a collapsed sewer line I contacted TDT Plumbing. I discussed with Vic my issue and we decided to have a camera run through the line to determine exactly where the collapse was and to ensure the entire line was replaced with PVC. Master plumber Eric, Manuel, and Fernando came out to inspect. Eric was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He was also very patient in explaining and instructing his crew. TDT's estimate was much lower and very reasonable. I contracted them to make the repairs. They arrived promptly at 8 and marked off where to dig and immediately started. Plumber Jose and Fernando worked steadily even though the previous days rain made it more difficult to dig. The following day they completed the repairs, filled the trench and cleaned up. I was extremely satisfied with their work. I would highly recommend TDT for your plumbing repairs.

We just completed our whole home ePipe project with the TDT team: Martin, Carmen,Manuel, and Julio. From start to finish the team performed a very professional job. As intrusive as this process is we stayed in our home and watched the team come and go as needed with no drama or fanfare. We were surprised and pleased at how well the few holes in the Sheetrock and tile were repaired. Cleanup was exceptional.

My first real interaction with TDT starts when Eric came by to give me a quote. Oddly enough, I found that I had another leak (3rd at this point) in the morning and was searching for it when he rang the bell. I showed him the house, described my failing galvanized piping, showed/described the PEX updates that we made during a renovation and showed him the active leak area. We started discussing the active leak and all the places I'd cut sheetrock that day. He and I then both ended up hunting for the leak. After checking some other possible areas, on his suggestion, I cut further on an already patched line and sure enough, two pinhole leaks further upstream than my first patch. Needless to say I was grateful for his help in identifying the leak and he even helped me put a couple clamps on it. A couple days later I get the quote for both ePIPE and full pipe replacement and I end up going with the ePIPE with the expectation that if it turns out to be impossible, they can start a re-pipe. About a week and a half go by after I sign and pay the deposit and Julio and crew come in to start. They were extremely professional and courteous, very efficient and answered every question that I had. Ended up chatting with them a decent amount and they were a genuine pleasure to have in my home. The ePIPE worked amazingly well and I now have piece of mind that I won't randomly wake up to a new pipe failure. Honestly I'm glad I was referred to TDT and more I'm grateful that they were able to help me out. Everyone that I had the pleasure to meet or speak with went above and beyond in helping me out. Genuinely, the best plumbing group I've ever had the pleasure to do business with. Everyone
